Lakshyam

Lakshyam means ambition, mission, target. Lakshyam stars Gopichand (fresh from Okkadunnadu), Jagapathi Babu (fresh from Pellaina Kothalo), Anushka (dont remember her last movie. I think it is Vishnu's Asthram) and Kalyani (very comfortable in character roles after her marriage). No pre-release hype about the movie. But one could see lot of crowds everywhere in the theatre as there is no other telugu movie release weeks before and after this movie.

Lakshyam is a story about Gopichand and Jagapathi Babu. Jagapathi Babu is an honest cop. Gopichand is Jagapathi Babu's brother. Jagapathi Babu gets murdered and Gopichand's lakshyam is to take revenge.

There is absolutely nothing new in the movie. The first half is ok while the second half should have been cut short. Gopichand is good and seems to be working hard to improve. Jagapathi Babu shows that at times he can give controlled performance. Anushka has put on little weight. Maybe she is not getting enough time for Yoga. Songs are ok. Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav and Raghubabu were not properly utilized. Raghubabu is getting monotonous in his repeated roles as hero's assistant. The romantic scenes between Gopichand and Anushka are ok. There should have been variety at least in these episodes as the remaining movie is anyway routine. Okkadunnadu was good as the hero doesnt rely just on his muscle power. I liked that. But its sheer muscle power here in Lakshyam.

Category A and B audience like me can watch out of their compulsive nature to watch the movie.

Apne - Apne tho Apne hothe hain.

Apne is a family movie from the deol family. While Lagaan rides on the craze of Cricket, Apne attempts to glorify boxing, a sport which hardly has any recognition in India.

Dharam paaji used to be a successful boxer whose career is put to an end on account of false doping charges. He vows to avenge this by making his son world champion. Dharam paaji has 2 sons, Sunny and Bobby. Sunny gets into agriculture much to the dislike of his dad. Bobby, the paralyzed (hand) son of Dharam cannot see the anguish of his dad and takes up boxing. He gets beaten and what Sunny does is the remaining story.

Dharam paaji is at his recent best and gave a memorable performance. Bobby is ok while Sunny is as usual loud. The movie doesnt generate as much enthusiasm as a movie where you see the Big B & Jr B together. But it is still good to see the deols together. The chemistry between Dharam and his sons is quite good. Kirron Kher is her usual good. Music is mediocre except the title track which is used mostly as background score for the music. There are quite a few scenes inspired by Rocky. The miracles in the movie give it a touch of fantasy. The first half goes well. But the final 30 mins is absolutely boring and climax is a huge let down.

Veduka

Veduka is sadly not celebration of life. It has some of the characters similar to those in Sooraj Bharjatya's movies who are too good to be true.

Veduka is about Poonam Bajwa who plays practical jokes on men and lands in trouble due to one such joke. Raja is a soft spoken nice guy who rents a room in Poonam's house. Poonam starts realizing what life is after meeting Raja. Raja slowly falls in love with Poonam and how he solves her other problem is the story.

There is nothing new about the story. Music is good. It is not another Anand kind of a movie. There is not much of situational comedy as there are a few scenes which are meant to be funny.

Raja is good in the role of a soft spoken nice guy. He seems to be always cast in the same role in every movie, be it Mayabazaar, Anand or Mogudu Pellam O Dongodu. I think Raja should move away from repeatedly stereotyped in the same role and should try to get into to other roles. Though a routine role, Raja did well in dance and fights as well. Poonam is much better than her earlier movies. Anu mehta doesnt have much of a role to play. Vishwanath did the role of Poonam's grandpa and is ok in that.

Its a movie for Category A and B audience only. Others, wait for some more time.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom

Jhoom Barabar boasts of ALL STARs cast starting with Big B, Jr B, Bobby Deol, Preity ZInta and Lara Dutta. What do you expect when these stars are together in a movie? As if this is not enough, the music is absolutely smashing. You just hope to just sway to Jhoom Barabar all through the movie. But NO. You are left disappointed at the end of the movie and feel there is nothing in the movie apart from Big B lightening the screen every now & then dancing to the title song.

The movie is about 2 pairs Abhishek Bachchan & Preity Zinta and Bobby Deol & Lara Dutta. Abhishek and Preity meet at Railway Station. Train is delayed and they engage in the conversation to find out that they are engaged and have come to receive their partners. It takes them 2 hrs and a few electrifying dance episodes of Big B to fall in love with each other. Rest of the movie is about whether they get together in their love or love being together with their finace/fiancee.

There are a few things to keep in mind before watching the movie

1. Note that this is NOT a BIG B movie. Big B only appears in song sequences. Dont be tempted by his appearances and energy levels to watch the movie.
2. Dont expect Abhishek and Bobby on a motorbike let you think of Big B and Dharam in Sholay.
3. If you are impressed by the Music and cant stop tapping feet the moment you hear Jhoom, you are better off watching the video on TV.

The movie starts off very well with Big B dancing to the tunes of Jhoom Barabar. The episodes between Abhishek & Lara Dutta and Preity and Bobby are totally illogical. Abhishek bachchan looks ok in the movie while Amitabh Bachchan rocks in his new getup. The entire crowd was united whenever Amitabh is on the screen, such was his presence. Preity looks old and Bobby strives to appears cool. Lara Dutta is average. There are no other characters in the movie. There is not much of scope for comedy in the movie. The only saving disgrace for the movie is the awesome Music.

The movie is recommended for A & B Category users. There are not many movies currently, so Category C users might also give a try. It is a short length movie, people with risk taking appetite and those who have no other work can give a try.

Sivaji - The BOSS

Sivaji is THE movie the entire South India has been eagerly waiting for about 1.5 yrs. What is so special about it?

1. It is Rajnikanth's movie.
2. Hero of the movie is the superstar, Rajni.
3. It is THE highest budget movie made in Ranji's movie career.
4. It is Rajni's movie after the blockbuster Chandramukhi.
5. Rajni looks even younger in this movie.

The other reason for making it special being that the director of the movie is Shankar of Premikudu (Kadalan in Tamil), Gentleman and more recently Oke Okkadu (Mudalvan in Tamil) and Aparichithudu (Anniyan in Tamil). This is Shankar's first movie with Rajni. Add AR Rehman to this lethal combo of Rajni and Shankar, you have more than reasons for the hype. But wait. Its not done yet. The movie is produced by AVM, the prestiguous production house of South. The budget of the movie? Well..it is somewhere between 80-100 crores (i am not sure which newspaper to take and which magazine to quote coz all of them have quoted different numbers).

Rajni, SUPER STAR for all and Thalaivar for people in Tamil Nadu and some parts of Andhra, is truly the BOSS. The fact that the movie got released in about 43 theatres (again some newspapers say anything between 42-44, so I took the average) in twin cities tells all about why Rajni is THE BOSS.

Sivaji is the story about a Software Engineer (or architect as Rajni says) who returns home for a noble ambition of setting up an educational university and a hospital. The University is meant to be the best university which offers education to poor without taking any fees. The hospital is meant to be a state-of-the-art place which would again treat poor without fees and bills. Obviously the ones running universities and hospitals wouldn't be too happy about this and make the movie happen infusing the twist. Of course, for simplicity sake the character Adiseshu (played by Suman) is the bad guy or villain who is minting money through universities and hospitals. As a result, Sivaji loses everything he has. All he is left with is his brain which he then invests to launch a mega-scale money laundering program all over the state in a bid to raise all the money to get the university and hospital started. Sivaji succeeds in this and there is then a need for climax which is introduced.

Does it meet all expectations?

1. Sivaji doesn't have the Rajni's flair for most of the movie.
2. Sivaji doesn't have Shankar's strong social message.
3. Sivaji doesn't have great music.
4. Dialogues lack the punch of Rajni.
5. The regular comedy in Rajni's movies is missing. Even Vivek is wasted in the role.

The movie is very long with over 3 hrs. When I saw the movie it took about 3 hrs 30 mins including intermission. This is very long. The love story between Rajni and Shriya is bad at its best and should have been cut short by about three fourths. There are too many scenes which are constructed devoid any logic. The entire sequence starting from Shriya commenting that Rajni is dark and Rajni's attempts to change/improve his colour are useless.

It does have a few things to brand it as Rajni's movie

1. Rajni's style.
2. Rajni's look which reminds of his appearance 2 decades back.
3. Rajni using a dialogue throughout the movie. Ee Basha okkasaari chepthe, vandasaarlu cheppinatte (Basha). Naa daari rahadaari. Adduravaddu (Narasimha). Rajni uses the word "Cool" liberally in this movie.
4. Rajni's way of tossing the cigar into his mouth. Only that here it is a bubblegum (i guess so).

The best thing about the movie is the few scenes where Rajni imitates NTR, ANR and Chiranjeevi. Rajni is good as Sivaji. Rajni carried various getups in the movie, especially the 2 main getups, with ease. Music by AR Rahman is ordinary but for the title song. Though Shriya does not have much to do except in songs, she is gorgeous. A fine dancer she is, Shriya is a treat to watch her dance with lot of grace. She looked great in traditional dresses and western wear too.

Sivaji was meant to be a movie for viewers of all categories and I guess all category viewers in spite of being a let down. The success of the movie depends on how much movie of the first half is cut.

Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar (Mp3)

Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar, mp3 for short, is a story of first time love between a 12th standard boy and a girl. I did know know anyone in the movie before watching it. I did a quick search on the director Robby Grewal and learnt that he made a movie earlier, Samay. Samay was an average movie. I liked it.

MP3 is about a boy, Rahul and girl Ayesha. You would see a Rahul in every school. He is not a hero or someone who excels at everything. He is bad at academics but excels at basket ball. Ayesha is an NRI girl who for some reasons comes to India and joins Rahul's school. The moms of Rahul and Ayesha are old friends and thus starts the friendship between Rahul and Ayesha. Rest of the movie is about how they realize that they are in love and how Rahul goes to Paris to propose to Ayesha in front of Effiel Tower.

Rahul is good as a school going boy. Ayesha is good too with her NRI accent and frequent usage of english. Rahul's friends do well too. The comedy part in the second part is provided by Ayesha's uncle who keeps forgetting things. Music is ok.

The best thing about the movie is that it is less than 2 hrs and finishes early without dragging the climax too much. Robby Grewal should be appreciated for refraining from making a 2.5 hr movie and cutting short the movie so that the feel-good factor remains. While watching the movie, school and college kids would identify themselves with various characters in the movie and others would feel reminded about their school/college days.

Overall, the movie can be watched once for its fresh characters and short duration. Good for category A,B,C viewers.

Dubai Seenu

Ravi Teja has established himself as a different actor with his coastal andhra accent and highly energetic performances. I have not seen anyone in Indian Cinema who has more energy levels than Ravi Teja. There is a song in "Naa Autograph" where one line about Ravi Teja goes like this "alupantu eragani ravitejaanni" (ravi means sun and teja means radiance. the phrase describes him as sun's radiance which doesnt know what is being tired). I couldnt agree with it more.

Pre-movie Talk
There was a lot of hype surrounding the movie as Srinu Vytla's previous movie Dhee was a super hit movie and Srinu Vytla-Ravi Teja's earlier combination was again a super hit comedy riot. This movie was supposed to be a milestone in providing entertainment and Ravi Teja was to repeat his magic.

Plot
Ravi Teja plays a character, Srinivasa Rao who is known as Dubai Seenu for his passion to go to Dubai. He gets tricked in Mumbai and had to put up a vada paav shop there. He gets to meet Nayantara and follows her to Hyderabad. There is a small suspense element and what Ravi Teja does is the 2nd half.

Entertainment
Entertainment is mostly provided by Ravi Teja. Though there were 2 booze scenes (booze scene in Srinu Vytla movie is defined as something that makes people laugh non-stop from 15-20 minutes), they werent as effective as they were in Dhee or Venki or Anandham. Shayaji Shinde wasnt effective in making audience laugh with him. He looks funny though. Raghubabu as Shayaji Shinde's side kick is good. Brahmanandam is wasted in his role. MS Narayana steals the show in the 2nd half very well supported with an excellent characterization.

Music is average unlike Dhee or Venki. Dubai Seenu title song is good and a melody "Kanyaraasi".

Dubai Seenu has most of the cast, hero's friends, Krishna Bhagwan, Brahmanandam, heroine's father, Mallikarjun Rao, as in Venki. Movie narration is different from those of Srinu Vytla's movies. The way movie starts makes one feel that it might be an action movie. Srinu Vytla tried to put in lot of entertainment and mix it with drama and revenge. Of course there wouldnt be any movie these days without a little romance.

Ravi Teja was in his usual self. He drives the entire movie. Ravi Teja shares a good chemistry with Nayantara. Nayantara looks good (and great when she wears sarees) but is without any expression in some scenes and in some songs as well. She suddenly changes her expression. It looks as if she was not informed before the camera was called. MS Narayana looks awesome as SalmonRaj, the aged actor who intereferes in all the roles and is a nuasance to everyone on the sets. He was clearly protraying a leading actor in telugu cinema.

Overall, the movie makes a good watch. Suitable for Category A, B, C & D viewers.

Rajubhai

Rajubhai to start with is a misnomer. Raju is no bhai in any sense. Rajubhai is yet another remake from Tamil movie Chithiram Pesuthadi. I couldnt understand the reason behind making this movie and more so in taking this movie from the tamil movie. I was wondering why one should watch this movie. We would have seen say 100 such movies. The story is that of an old movie. The pace at which the movie progresses bores the audience. There is no comedy (I am least bothered whether it is a parallel track or goes with the story/theme of the movie). Hero and Heroine are bad in looks as well, leave alone the performances. There is not even a single good performance in the movie. The love track between the hero and the heroine is not properly established. The reason hero's mother puts hero out of house is illogical. The only thing saving disgrace is the ok music. But that does not make one watch the movie. You can as well catch it on FM or TV trailers.

Director Suryakiran (whose only name to fame is Satyam) must have thought that a great climax is enough for the audience to watch the movie. He is wrong in 2 ways. One, audience will not stay for 2 hrs 25 mins to see 5 mins of entertainment. The other, it is a very bad climax where the so-called secret is revealed. Manoj Kumar lost quite a few kilos and looks watchable now. He has long way to go to even get compared to his dad, Mohan Babu. The heroine is a new one and I guess would most likely be a one movie wonder like many others.

I started liking Munna after watching this movie. Atleast music was good. Then there was Ileana and Prabhas. I would rather watch Munna a few more times than watch a movie like Rajubhai again.

Rajubhai is a strict NO-NO even for category A viewers. If you are someone like me who wouldnt go by any reviews or opinions or others, go ahead and watch the movie at your own risk.

Aata - Puli meedha swaari!

Aata is one of the most awaited movies this summer. Aata means game. Aata also means movie show. The movie talks more about the movie show than about playing game. The punchline for the movie is Puli meedha Swaari (ride on a tiger).

Reasons for hype:

1. Sidharth's previous movie, Bommarillu was a mega blockbuster
2. MS Raju is an ace producer. Though his previous movie, Pournami did disappoint, this was to be his comeback movie
3. DeviSri Prasad has been on a high after Bommarillu and the audio was already a hit before the movie was released
4. VN Adhitya's (manasantha nuvve fame) previous movie Boss was an average movie. But people have still not forgotten Manasantha Nuvve and expect him to recreate the magic with Aata.
5. Ileana - Her previous movie Munna is not doing well. But she is still considered lucky mascot and the most glamorous heroine in Telugu Industry now.

Sri Krishna is a movie freak who spends his entire life in watching aata (movie shows). He cries whenever the aata gets finished and eagerly waits for the next aata. Sri Krishna grows up watching aatas of different languages and genres. This 15 mins episode is used to establish hero's character and VN Adhitya used it to say how smart the hero is. This episode starts with hero shown in a cradle (sort of) in a theatre screening room and ends with a small chase-n-fight scene where grown up hero gets to demonstrate his wits. Shortly after this, heroine (in trouble) runs into hero and hero decides to help her. How he does it is the second half.

The first half goes well at a decent pace. The second half, though heavily inspired by Gudumba Shankar, is good. Vicky, the villian is introduced as a spoilt brat who doesnt have any soft corner. But the way he changes himself just for a bet isnt convincing. There are many such scenes which arent logical. I guess VN Adhitya would have envisioned an entertaining movie with a great climiax. But the climax isnt as good as he might have expected. He should have worked more on the script. At least one song in the second half can be removed to reduce the time and maintain the continuity.

Sidharth did well in the role of Sri Krishna sporting a cool hairstyle. It is good to see that non-telugu actors like Sidharth learning the language instead of resorting to non-matching lip sync during the movie and dubbing post movie. Though the pronounciation isnt perfect, it is ok. I havent seen the kind of dresses Sidharth wore in this movie. The wardrobe looked fresh and appealing. Ileana is quite glamorous in the role of Satya. There was a little scope for acting in this movie and she did it ok. Otherwise she was confined to most of the songs in the movie. Comedy by Sunil is good in parts, especially the Rajasthan Hotel episode is bound to tickle your funny nerves. The new actor who performed the role of Vicky is ok. Though he did ok, he doesnt quite look like an andhra person. He looks more like a north Indian. Jayaprakash reddy, Shayaji Shinde and others have little scope to perform.

The movie isnt a great one. It isnt quite Puli Meeda Swaari (read adventurous or thrilling). But is not boring either. It can be watched for the comedy & the music. Of course, Ileana fans wouldnt want to miss this for anything. This is ideal for category A, B, C viewers.

Munna

Whats all this Munna movie about? Prabhas, the Nephew of Rebel Star and Star of older years, Krishnam Raju? Ileana, the latest hearthrob of south india? Dil Raju, the man with golden touch? Harris Jayraj, the music director of movies like Gharshana, Aparichithudu? Vamsi Paidipally? Well, its certainly not about the movie for the movie isnt worth watching. Not for any or all of the above reasons. We have seen Chatrapathi, Yogi and we are seeing the both again in Munna. Do we want to see it yet again?

Munna is a typical revenge movie of olden days where hero wants to take revenge on the villian as a kid, waits for 20 yrs to become strong and then takes the revenge. Then, whats special about this? What makes the debutant director go for this movie? Why should Dil Raju who has an eye for blockbuster movies produce this movie? I kept wondering right from the beginning of the movie. I am still clueless about it. I guess he wanted to package old wine in new bottle. New actors, yes. But what else is new in this?

The only thing you would want to talk about is the flaws in the movie and illogical sequences. There is no explanation as to why hero is so violent. Why does hero change his name from Mahesh to Munna? Villian is called KhaKha where in his name is KamalaKar. Hero is raised in govt orphanage. Then how does he manage to get the posh bike and designer dresses? His only motto is to kill the villian. Then why does he try to become a godfather trying to solve all the problems of people? Munna doesnt take money from anyone for anything. Where does he get the money to arrange scorpios then? Things like this go on..

Better catchup some movie on DVD or watch something on TV instead of going for this. I dont need to say anything for Category A & B users coz anyways they would watch.

Spiderman 3

Spidey3, the movie the entire world has been waiting for the past 2 yrs. The most expensive movie ever, the most waited movie and one of the most hyped movies got released last friday. I had thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 series of Spiderman. I watched the first of the Spiderman series 4 times and couldnt wait for the next part. After watching the spiderman 2, i was waiting for Spiderman 3 even more desperately. Watching spiderman swing across the busy Newyork streets is still one of the best things to watch on silverscreen. Whats more enjoyable is to watch spiderman on IMAX screen, the biggest screen in the world. I loved spiderman and his adventures from my childhood. I grew up watching the super heroes He-Man, Spider Man, Batman and Super man. Spiderman has been my favourite among these.

The latest Spiderman series is not all about action adventures of the superhero. You dont see spiderman fighting his enemies in this movie, for most of the time. The movie deals with the worst enemy, the enemy within. I personally dont accept with people saying that superheroes cannot be human and cannot give in to emotions. I heard lot of people, media talk about the latest superman series. But I loved the latest superman movie much more than the previous ones. The fact that even the superheroes have emotions makes them more human. It is their belief and confidence that makes them what they are. This makes one believe that even humans like us can be superheroes if we believe in ourself.

The spiderman3 deals more with human aspects of the Peter Parker rather than the adventures of Spiderman. The movie deals with complacency, revenge, jealousy and anguish. In addition to these emotional aspects, Spiderman has to also deal with 3 other enemies, his friend Harry, Sandman and the Venom.

Spiderman 3 doesnt meet the standards set by the first 2 of the series. It doesnt leave a message to the viewers as the previous ones. The pace of the movie is pretty slow with the pace gaining only in the climax. The graphics and visuals are stunning as usual. The background music is also good. The movie would definitely be worth watching for Categories A, B and C. The cateogry c viewers can also give it a try.

AMAV

The phrase "Aadavari Matalaku Ardhaale Verule (AMAV)" means what women say and what they mean are different and opposite in most cases. This phrase was first used by legendary Pingali in the evergreen Telugu comedy Missamma where NTR sings Avunante Kadhanile about Savitri and women in general. The lyrics became a rage then and are talked about till date. This popular song was made even more popular by Pawan Kalyan in his blockbuster movie Khushi. With such a background, the title itself was enough to generate curiosity amongst the Telugu movie lovers. Add to this, Venkatesh as the leading star, Trisha as leading lady and Harris Jayraj as music composer and the movie is bound to get all the needed openings.

AMAV is about not-so-young Venky who is a loser all the way. He gets inspired just by seeing Trisha and his lady luck gets him a job. Venky proposes and Trisha disposes as she is already engaged. But fate gets them together in a village for Trisha's marriage. Everyone knows what happens in the climax. If you wanna see how it happens, watch AMAV.

The movie AMAV doesn't live up to the expectations. The name doesn't quite suit the movie and there is not even a few scenes which make the movie title apt. The characterization of various actors in the movie is ambiguous and weak. One doesnt understand why Trisha was so rude, mean & agressive in first half and why she becomes so soft and meek in second half. One keeps wondering the basis for the father-son relationship depicted between Kota and Venky. Swathi (colors) did a good job. There is no role for Sunil. Srikanth did a decent job which is limited. Vishwanath did an important role. The movie has decent dose of entertainment along with heavy emotions towards the end of first half and family drama in second half. Songs are good with peppy numbers and soulful ones as well. Harris Jayraj did a good job.

There are not many movies around and AMAV can be watched once. AMAV is a good movie for Categories A & B. It also makes a watchable movie for Categories C & D as well.

I feel all the movie-goers can be classified into one of the below categories.

Category A - You are a complete movie buff like me who would watch every movie irrespective of the cast, stars. You would even watch most of the dubbing movies which were flops in the original language, where there is no nativity and lip sync.

Category B - You are a movie buff who would watch every movie. But you would not dare to watch dubbing movies unless vouched by near and dear.

Ta RA Rum PUM

Siddharth Anand continues his winning streak with Ta RA Rum PUM. Ta RA Rum PUM is a story about a person who sees the highs of life and then goes down and bounces back finally.

Saif is RV (RanVeer Singh). Initially a Tyre Changer in Racing who becomes the ace Racer. Rani is Radhika, a student pursuing Music as Major who is referred in the movie as the Best Piano Player. RV meets Radhika as a tyre changer and with his lady luck, he goes on to become the best racer in the world winning all the races for about 6 years. At the peak of his career, RV plans little to make any savings and leads a very lavish life living on today without thinking about tomorrow. With each win, RV gets complacent and the fate strikes on the track where he meets with an accident and the world turns topsy turvy for this ace racer. RV tries to get back to track but finds his mind coming in way with a fear for tracks. The best racer becomes jobless and finds it even difficult to get enough food and pay school fees for his children. His son falls sick and with no other choice, RV takes up racing again to overcome his worst fears coming from deep within.

Saif has come a long way from the yeh dillagi days to the present day. He is one of the few versatile actors in Hindi Cinema today. Saif rocks in this movie. Rani has always been good and is getting better with every movie. The chemistry between Rani and Saif is the biggest plus of the movie. The way Saif calls Rani Shona is cool. Be it in the Aveo ad or the earlier movies Hum Tum, Rani & Saif appear to be one of the cutest pairs in Hindi Cinema. Javed Jaaferi repeats his Salaam Namasthe magic with his Gujrati accent and excellent performance. The kids Haji Ali (Rehaan of Fanaa) and Angelina Irani did their part well and are adorable. Apart from these characters, you have another important character who has got nothing to do with the movie. The character is the name "Chevrolet" seen in most of the movie.

The whole movie revolves around the racing track. At times the track doesnt look good enough to be a racing track. Maybe it could have made better.

Music is good. Especially the Hey Shona song is excellent with Shan and Sunidhi Chauhan making you sing along by the time the song gets finished. The title song is very good well complemented by apt lyrics.

Ta RA Rum PUM is a cool movie to beat the summer heat. Catch it up on silverscreen and you would thoroughly enjoy.

Dhee (Kotti Choodu )

Another mega entertainer from Srinu Vaitla. One of the best entertainers in the recent times and one of the best movies I have seen since Bommarillu. At the end of the movie Srinu Vaitla, Brahmanandham, Srihari, Sunil and Vishnu come out winners. Though Vishnu has done a decent job, I feel some other actor like Ravi Teja would have done wonders to such an author-backed role. I have no doubt that Ravi Teja, with his tremendous energy and unique mannerisms would have made this movie one of the all time entertainers.

The movie starts introducing 2 powerful gangs, that of Shankar Gowd (Srihari) and Bhillu (Supreet). Srihari kills Supreet's son, Ajay. Through out the movie, Supreet tries to avenge the death of his son by killing Srihari's sister, Genelia. Genelia is made to continue her studies at home when Srihari comes to know about Supreet's intentions. Vishnu is a streetsmart guy who prefers brain over brawn. Vishnu enters Srihari's house as an accountant and wins his confidence by displaying his wits. As it is expected, Vishnu falls in love with Genelia to take the story forward. Here is where Srinu makes it different from other movies by not taking the usual path of hero and heroine eloping. Vishnu and Genelia get married without Srihari's knowledge. However, Srihari comes to know that Genelia has a boyfriend. It is then a hide and seek game between Srihari and Vishnu to know who the boyfriend is till the climax when it is time for the villian (Supreet) to give the twist thus bringing the movie to an end.

Brahmanandam did extremely well throughout the movie and plays a major role entertaining the crowds. Srinu Vaitla continues his rib tickling 15 minute booze episode. This time instead of the hero, it is Brahmanandam who does the honours. Given a role like this, Brahmanandam shows what he can do. During the booze episode, sunil gets a chance to shake a leg and he does it very well. Genelia continued her Bommarillu role and mannerisms in this movie too. Jayaprakash Reddy did well too in a role which needed just expressions and he showed how one can make people laugh without saying a word. Srihari is good in his role with his telangana accent. The way he lifts his hands and says "Gidhi final" is good. Chandramohan does a good job as Vishnu's dad. Prema as Srihari's wife has no role to play. Tanikella Bharani and Shafi are sufficient in their roles.

Music is good though it is not great. There are couple of songs which are good.

Srinu should have given some attention to Genelia's dubbing. There was absolutely no lip sync between what is said and what her lips read. Vishnu should seriously consider shredding a lot of weight. Srihari did a good job and should continue to take up different roles instead of the going in for the same action hero subjects with revenge as central theme.

Overall, Dhee is definitely worth watching for complete 3 hours of entertainment. Have fun :-)
